Just a Girl

I’m just a girl
With tattoos and dreadlocks
And a shiny black barbell in the middle of my stomach
Proclaiming the word
Bitch

I’m just a girl
With lime green sneakers
And dark black sunglasses
And a penchant for cursing and smoking too much

I’m just a girl
Who once was a woman
But feels more like a child
With each passing day

I’m just a girl
Nose buried in a textbook
Dreaming of a tomorrow
That got lost with yesterday

I’m just a girl
Who sometimes has days
When then sky is too black
And the rain refuses to come

I’m just a girl
Broken hearted and bleeding
Wondering if she’ll ever be OK
Wondering if she’ll ever be OK
