Truthful Tuesday – Living Room Disaster

Truthful Tuesday at Hip Mountain Mama BlogThe living room is a mess. Shredded paper all over the floor, toys scattered, baskets dumped. A tornado of three children tore through the place, leaving destruction in their wake. This is only half of the chaos. There is also a brown paper path to the front door, a bucket of Legos dumped beside the couch, and crayon sharpener shreddings lightly dusted around the bottom of the staircase. It’s almost hypnotic.

And me? Well, I should be cleaning it up. But Saffron is napping, and the boys are at a friend’s house. I started the dishwasher and got the towels in the dryer. So I’m pretending that the mess isn’t there.

After all, who wants to spend their precious quiet time cleaning up? They’ll just make the mess again when they get home. I’ll make a quick sweep through before Michael gets home and hope it lasts until he walks through the door.

Things That Make Me Giggle

Any former (and not-so-former) pot heads will probably get the giggles over this too.

This classic scent for men is a sensual reflection of raw masculine energy. Exotic citruses and warm notes of chocolate, vetiver, and vanilla musk surround the uniquely seductive heart: a special proprietary accord that captures the raw sensuality of Cannabis, known for its woodsy, musky properties.

You see, it’s cologne. That smells like pot. And chocolate cookies. For $40.

Yes, now you too and smell like a pot head without the hassle of failed drug tests and midnight munchies runs. Plus, $40 worth of cologne will go a lot farther.

The New Bookshelf

I realize that buying a new bookshelf isn’t all that terribly exciting, but I’m excited about it anyway.

Ahem. The new bookshelf, gaze in awe. Now gaze in awe at the fact that it was $180 and I brought it home for $80. Oh yes, mama likes big savings.

After some rearranging, it now sits against the wall that leads into my kitchen. Next to the cheapo plastic organizer thing that I’m pretty sure came from Walmart, but I got for $5 at the thrift shop on account of the fact that it leans pretty far if not propped against something. Like, say, my new bookshelf!

The bottom shelf is all Saffron’s Right now she’s got her collection of Little People, a few books, and the dog that sings while she dances in circles. Super cute. And she’s more than a little thrilled to have her very own space in the downstairs.

The middle is, right now, for the boy’s Legos bucket and the play scarves. They’re excited as this means no longer bugging me to get the Legos down from the top of the fridge. I’m excited because this no longer means I have to get the Legos down from the top of the fridge. See, win win.

The very top has the arts and crafts stuff. Arranged in neat little baskets. Yeah, that will last a couple days before chaos ensues. But for now, see how neat and orderly.

The top shelf I have plans to turn into the nature table. It’s just high enough that Saffron can’t see what’s up there, especially if I set stuff far enough back. So hopefully she’ll not break anything. Right now the boys’ glitter leaves are being displayed, but we are planning to add more stuff soon. I even ordered some wooden pegs to make seasonal gnomes.

See how on the ball I plan on being? Yeah, uh, we’ll see how that actually turns out.

For now though, I have my beautiful new bookshelf to keep me entertained. What can I say, I’m easy.
